West Africa
The Jubilee Foundation has been working in West Africa for the past five years. Money from profits has been given to the expansion of work in the following places and their projects:
Ghana
Over the last few years we have been establishing links within Ghana. Listed below are a few of the projects that have been supported and financially sustained by The Jubilee Foundation:
Beekeeping - Over 7 years this project has grown from one beehive to approximately 100 beehives working in rural areas of Ghana... more
Rural uplift - This project educates locals to run their farm as a business, teaching them about harvest rather than just farming small plots... more
Village schools - With The Jubilee Foundation’s help the City of God church in Accra, Ghana has built a model school for local children, the New Nation School... more
Foundation Workshop - Since the opening of the Foundation Workshop in Accra, Ghana in 2004 the carpenters have been working flat out to keep up the workload... more
Garage Workshop - Since 2004 The Jubilee Foundation has been involved with a Garage Workshop in Accra, Ghana... more
Medical outreach - In March 2005 a Medical Outreach project was started in the rural villages near Accra, Ghana... more
A new venture for us in March 08 was to help set up a bakery in Accra, Ghana. This business will provide bread rolls for the children in New Nation School which we work with as well as bake loaves of bread to sell locally.
We are now looking to use these firm foundations and work into more of West Africa from Ghana. Our focus will be to work out of Ghana with similar projects. This will be to as many of the West African countries as we are able to support and sustain physically and financially. We will use our experience and achievements so far as the model for this expansion of the work in Africa.
Liberia
Two pallet boxes of goods have already been sent out to support some church groups that have just started work in Liberia. As well as supplying resources The Jubilee Foundation will aim to support these groups with training and necessary skills to create income-generating businesses.
Nigeria
Following a visit to Nigeria we are now in a position to support several small businesses set up by a local church in Lagos. Our involvement is growing as more and more people visit. In 2008 we sent a number of computers, scanners and other equipment. A gift of £1000 has already been sent to purchase urgently needed items locally. We have also been able to supply resources for the school started by Sam Amara who heads up the work in Nigeria.
Togo and Benin
Projects in Togo and Benin are also being supported by The Jubilee Foundation but because of the difficulty in transporting goods this help to date has had to be financial. We would also like to help with sending out various resources and are at the moment looking at ways of doing this that will work physically and without too large a cost.
