Beekeeping

BeekeepingOver 7 years this project has grown from one beehive to approximately 100 beehives working in rural areas of Ghana. Beekeeping has become a great source of income and food for many farmers living in villages such as Taffi Mado and Adjanoa. The Jubilee Foundation regularly sends a professional beekeeper from the UK to oversee and train employees. Not only has this project given work to local carpenters who make the hives, but with the sale of the honey it has provided valuable funds for the villagers, helping them to pay medical bills, school fees and to buy food for their families. Local tailors have also benefited from new income having been asked to make bee-keeping suits for the people involved in the project.

We have already started a similar project in Nigeria where training has been given and the first hives set up in a rural area.
